Major rivers in chia-yi county (Pu-zi river, Bei-gang river and Ba-zhang river) are categorized as mixed-pollution rivers, they suffer pollutants from industrial wastewater, household wastewater and livestock husbandry wastewater. For better reinforce the river water protection project, at 2008, Chia-yi county environmental protection bureau contracted Ji-jia environmental consulting firm to carry out the project “Investigation of 2008 Chia-yi county water pollution sources and drinking water protection area regulation” to better regulate the water pollution sources. The duration of this project is from Feb. 2007 to Dec. 31st, 2008. The strategies include: river background information investigation, water pollution sources and drinking water protection area regulation, industrial units regulation, investigation of illegal wastewater discharging pipes and monitoring of illegal discharge activities and water pollution regulation info sessions, etc.
